Who we are
Every idea comes
from somewhere.
Including ours.
We are fathers and husbands in West Michigan. Some of us own businesses, and some of us work for one. We care what happens to this place and the people in it.
Where you will find us
Working hard to provide for our families.
Stuck in traffic on 131.
Grabbing a bag of hamburger buns for our wives on the way home.
In church on the Lord’s Day.
Who we answer to
Our names aren’t on this site. We aren’t cowards. Ideas have consequences, and ours cut against the one thing both parties agree on. We keep our names off to protect the people we love from paying for what we say.
We are men under authority.
Our pastors know who we are, and they know about this project. We submit to them, because they keep watch over our souls and will answer for them (Hebrews 13:17). If they told us to stop, we would.
It started with questions
How did we get here?
Where did the ideas everyone believed come from?
Did our own ideas come from somewhere too?
Why did so many children of conservatives go woke in 2020?
We had always assumed our own ideas were just common sense. Then we traced them back. Much of what we believed about politics grew from the same root as the progressive ideas we opposed. Many of the children who went woke in 2020 didn’t reject what they were raised on. They followed it further than their parents ever meant to go.
The old paths
“
Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths of the Lord; and see what is the good way, and walk in it, and ye shall find purification for your souls.
Jeremiah 6:16 · Septuagint, Brenton
The answers we found aren’t new. We are not inventing anything. We are recovering the old paths, the paths that built Christendom.
The ideas we grew up with are the new ones.
Where we start
We are Christians, and we don’t pretend to be neutral. Every idea comes from one of two places: what God has revealed, or rebellion against it. So we ask the same three questions of every idea, our own included.
Who we’re doing this for
Our great-great-grandchildren.
We will never meet them, but they will inherit whatever we pass down: what we believed, what we taught our children, and what we let slide. We want to hand them something worth keeping.
What we do
This site lays out what we found, one idea at a time. The talk series is where we work out what to do about it, in our own lives, in our homes, in our churches, and in what we stand for in public.
